Sincerely, Grandad Bee. I was treasurer (and am now employed as Business Manager) of a pre-school run as a charity. I'm guessing our main differences to you will be that we invoice fees (and track accounts receivable) and we only do minimal gift aid. I'm using Gnucash 2.4.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. If the accounts are going to be audited (informally or otherwise) you might want to consider whether the person looking at the accounts can run the same software on their operating system.
