Update on my FTTC connection well so far, both good and bad.
Hello

I am expecting 100Mbps to come to my local exchange at Leedstown next month.

Hm...

809 residential premises
68 non-residential premises.

My exchange has 3 times that and will never get ADSL2+ let alone FTTC )-:

Demon tell me they cannot do better than their Honme Office 2+ at (I think) 16Mbps ADSL2 box along presumably wire from the exchange. BT haven't mentioned to the cabinet yet AFAIK. We are over 2 miles away and it is rated by BT at 3.6Mbps max now from an 8Mbps max. Should I expect this to, say, double? Should I be able to better this in another way?

You may be 2 miles as the crow flies, but who knows where the line goes... If you're unlucky to have a railway or river to cross it could be much longer.

I don't know about Demons products, but the max. on ADSL2+ is typically 24Mb (although I've never seen more than 22Mb myself). It could be that Demon apply a cap to the speed. Good job you have a choice of ISPs...

However that speed is about right for ADSL2 for 2 or 3 miles away. Personally, I'd stick for a slower speed if it were stable than faster but unstable.

Your ability to get FTTC will depends on BT putting fibre to the cabinet you're served off - do you know where it is, and if BT have been working on it yet? If your phone lines are overhead, see if you can follow them back to the box. I really don't know what their policy is for Cornwall at present - whether they're really doing *all* the cabinets or just most of them. I know that there is a plan to offer satellite to fill-in some really remote houses/farms though...
