String would do it, doesn't do much for data though although I guess 
with two tin cans you could maybe just maybe get some voice down it.
USB, limited to 5 metres without a repeater.

Ethernet, limited to 100 Metres at least on CAT5. Can't remember what the limits on 10Base2 coax is, something like 300 metres or something without a repeater.
Wifi, well that might work.  I've heard stories of Pringles cans.  Not 
sure if maybe a big antenna would do the job, maybe with an 
OpenWRT/DD-WRT/etc router on each end?
