Eclipse is a Java based IDE, AIUI... Again, you're solving the wrong problem - if that sort of application needs 1GB of RAM it's seriously screwed up.Sadly it seems to be the only realistic option for development for the Android environment. Is it? Applications for Android phones are pretty much all Java-based. It is possible to do a lot of coding without Eclipse, but there's a specific Eclipse add-on that enables it to create templates for projects and link with the emulator for debugging that in theory at least make it easier to use than anything else.
