An ebook reader? Oh you mean a crippled computer with added DRM! I'd never buy one of those anyway.
No DRM on my ebook reader - not all are the same.

an ebook reader is an ebook reader, not a crippled laptop - though they
do cost more than what they ought.

I have a sony reader. there is no need to buy DRM'd books unless you
want to. I have two DRM'd books out of about 900. Maybe you don't
travel, go on holiday or read fast? I do. I read a sf book a day, maybe
more. The ebook reader means I don't run out of reading material. It
means my luggage is a LOT lighter. It means I don't discard a trail of
expensive paperbacks across the world.

If you have a reader of any type then you should know about the OS app
Calibre. This is the best ebook library organiser going. A very
brilliant piece of software and though installable on most OS's was
designed for linux.

You can convert horrible pdf books to epub, lrf, mobi etc etc. You can
use the meta data edit facilities to add blurb and covers from amazon.
You can move your books from a PC to your reader. It is the only piece
of OS software I have been moved to give money to.

Reading a book on a reader with e-ink is a lot different than trying to
do it on a laptop.
/I'm looking forward to getting an e-book screen that can bluetooth to my netbook - that should be really light ! All the other stuff fits on the netbook and that will go with me anyway.
