Re: [LUG] New "Psion" sub-netbook

I've always wanted to make my own ARM netbook based around a beagleboard, unfortunately the monitor is the main issue as there are very few small and low power monitors available. Best I could find is some Samsung digital photo frame that can be used as an external monitor but those are 8" or 10" which is still a tad big and draw 6W so the best battery life you could get out of a fully loaded netbook is roughly 8 hours.

Just found this:

The company is owned by an ex-Psion engineer.

Having contacted them, they are offering two versions (either Windows XP
pro or Ubuntu (I assume UNR), both at £499.99, which seems a bit pricey.

I might be interested if the price was lower, as I need something that
will slip into a pocket, but has a qwerty keyboard (albeit a little
small for serious typing)

Meh. Should have used ARM. I can't wait until somebody releases a proper ARM netbook with batteries lasting all whole day.

Too many people sticking with x86 because that's what Windows needs.
