Re: [LUG] Devolo

Solwise have been selling their own brand homeplug kits for quite a while,
and having use them, i have found them to be quite effective and reliable.

Not to mention much cheaper :)

Also try putting the Router up higher that sometimes helps.

I have used Devolo (which I borrowed from a friend) with Linux and had no
issues. AS your wife has a Laptop you might want to consider getting the
Dual Connection Plug - This is a little bit more expensive (IIRC about
£85.00) but one plug has a Wireless Transmitter (as well as an Ethernet
Connection). Plug the Wired Connector into a socket near the Router and
Connect an Ethernet Cable, plug the other one in downstairs and it instantly
extends your wireless Network.

Regards,
Dave.

Is this immediately downstairs or through various walls. Have you tried
moving the angle of the arial or moving the computer about to see how
the signal strength varies? We can use laptops underneath the room where
the wireless relay is and even outside the house.
