Re: [LUG] OT Digital TV

Well it is a small world!

Don't know many people down your end (other then Roy on the end).

If you're in the village at all stop off and say hello (I live at the Old
Forge).

Don't know what your proficiency with Linux is but although a well-seasoned
professional in Windows I fall at the first hurdle with Linux. It's a
love-hate relationship at the moment with me; I love the Ideas and
Principles of Linux and Open Source but because I'm use to the cosseting of
Windows (generally one API for each area) and don't have as much time to
devote as I think I should I wavier over committing full time to Linux;
however the warmth, generosity (in wanting to help) and level of knowledge
of both the people on this Forum and others I have visited keeps me coming
back for one more try!

Regards,
Dave.

Closer than you might think :) I'm not even a couple of miles away, in
Pitsford Hill. That does mean though that you have something of an
advantage over us in terms of elevation, and we also have the further
disadvantage (in terms of "seeing" Stockland Hill) that we're just below
the brow of a hill facing north-east.

The Stockland Hill transmitter is roughly SSE of here, whereas the
Mendip one is ENE, so if your aerials were pointing in pretty much
opposite directions as opposed to being at around 90 degrees to each
other I'd suspect that one of them was pointing at Wenvoe in South
Wales. It wouldn't surprise me if you could get a moderately good
signal from there.

James
