Do the copyright or IP owners of the software get it, or does the BSA retain it? If the latter, how exactly does that help software houses? They still don't get revenue from their software, and the BSA get a lot of money for what is basically 'following up on tip-offs and applying for warrants'. I'm sure their outlay in this case would have been less than £120,000. If the money is split proportionately between the manufacturers of the software found to be unlicensed, then that would be the preferable outcome, with as I mentioned before, some money for the BSA for doing the job.
