WEP is rubbish, there are quite a hand full of packages that can demonstrate a web crack via various methods WPA is better and WPA2 should be better again, but there are various attacks targeted at WPA networks although it is harder than WEP to crack. I'm not an expert on wireless security but i have cracked my own network as a proof of concept and I would treat wireless networks with a little care and not assume they are safe. A good way to harden your network as a whole is to use IPSEC on the various systems this means all network traffic is encrypted using a reasonable encryption method based on private keys. I have used this for wireless in the past but if you need to get a laptop connected to the internet via wirless and a broadband connection somewhere you need to un-IPSEC the traffic somewhere eg :- internet----router------network -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
