On the downside some BIOSes do things to the hard disk to make hacking the bios password difficult, so I'd start with the motherboard documentation if trying to sort a BIOS password issue. If it auto logins in (or logs in with a predefined user ) can you see "switch user" or log in as another user? sometimes guest is enabled..... If not try this boot CD trinity-rescue-kit.3.3-build-318.iso if you can get to the the /windows/system32/config dir and get the sam file you can use L0phtCrack - (http://www.atstake.com/research/lc3/) or cain&able loadhive will open another's registry file on a working XP machine, I have used this to recover XP licence keys from users who have "lost the sticker" for their Machine but who have the Original CD. --
