LilyPond is 'nice' but its not a point and click thing and doesn't actually 
play the music whereas NoteEdit is a nice wysiwyh thing.

I have seen a couple of score editors for windows that are OK but they don't 
do MusicXML - or at least not at the 'free' version level.
I may contact the author of MusicEdit to see if he's going xml..
