I think I mentioned earlier problems with gnucashtoqif date formats - my accountant couldn't read anything in past the 12th the month. I have written a small .NET program (should work on Linux with mono) that converts the dates in the file to real world dates if anyones interested. I did try and modify the original gnucashtoqif java code but cant get the source to run properly and the original author seems to be awol.
