Re: [LUG] DIY supercomputer

Hi, count me in!

20 pc-s could be fitted into 2U rack cases or similar and stacked up in a proper rack, then it does not use that much of space at all. Or just build a custom case for it (i think i could help with that). Ages ago Fujitsu-Siemens developed a blade server or something what could be used in a similar way, only blades were smaller and more powerful. For the use: we can always take part in any cancer research project on the net if the computer is powerful enough.

I can help with several cases of drinks and a lift from Exeter/Devon area.

I do understand the DCLUG is a non profit community but if the project is successful then why not develop it with proper quality hardware and offer calculating power on the internet or just build some kind of public service on it. There could be always many useful ways how to use the knowledge.

Peace,
Jaan
