Ohh, made a bit of a typo...

I meant to put:

mount -t vfat /dev/sda1p1 /mnt/usbkey

Are you logged in as root (or did you run su before running the command) 
and is there a directory called usbkey in /mnt? (obvious, just checking 
to make sure).
