**WARNING**

I had exactly the same output for my USB2 512Mb "pendrive" from Kingston.
Basically, the "p1" partition should never be seen under these circumstances, and in
my case it indicated that there was a physical problem with the device. I contacted
Kingston and (after much deliberation... they weren't too hot on Linux) it turned
out that the USB2 controller on the pendrive was knackered. (I don't know if you
know... USB-2 devices should all have their own controllers built-in which is why
USB-2 devices can communicate with eachother without the need for a PC).

Grant.
