It was the symbol file, and i'm not using kde this is a k for kernel, :-) i am running a linux kernel through gdb on a remote machine to trap faults in a kernel module i'm working on. Its a lot more hairy than plain old gdb on an executable. Now i just need to get it to find the symbol files for ALL the kernel modules that are being loaded :-(, well prehapse not unless they are related to the area i'm working on.
