Thanks Neil,¸that was the problem.
However, now the 'make install' fails. I tried using 'checkinstall' as
Grant suggested, and 'make install'.
Both fell over, with the following errors (apologies it's a bit long):

With me limited knowledge of Linux this bit confuses me:
rm -f /usr/share/doc/HTML/da/kopete/common
cp -p /usr/share/doc/HTML/da/common /usr/share/doc/HTML/da/kopete/common
cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/doc/HTML/da/common': No such file or directory
Can/should I just make the folder manually it's complaining it can't
find, or is there a valid reason it's not there?
