There is no equivalent to Access or Paradox available on Linux.

Uhh, Paradox for GNU/Linux, what a thought.

Corel released Paradox 9 for Linux using the wine emulator. Mike Prestwood
contributed four chapters on Paradox for Linux to the book WordPerfect Office
2000 for Linux

1. wine is not an emulator (it's what WINE means)
2. Any database running through a program like Wine is going to be SLOW.
3. Anyone who releases a program for Wine and doesn't know what Wine means is
not going to get the best from Wine!

There are databases, of course, but they have two big problems. One,
they are based on SQL, which I do not like at all.

Like it or lump it, SQL is here to stay. Learn it, live with it, unless you
fancy creating a whole new language and using a database management program
with a userbase of 1.

Don't know about Paradox however (never heard of it).

Paradox was originally part of Lotus SmartSuite, the database engine was
available from Borland and there was a HEFTY penalty fee for trying to use it
without an installed copy of Paradox. The runtime version of the engine was
more expensive than my Borland C compiler (and that was >£400).

I used Paradox day in day out for a few years before I left Windows for good.
It stunk then and it will be even worse through Wine.
