You could ease them in gently.  There is a project called "The Open CD" 
(http://www.theopencd.org) which contains tonnes of Free/Open software for Windows.  
Once they've actually seen that FLOSS does make high quality applications, they may 
be more open to suggestions that Linux is good too.
