How would I do that? :) My ISPs/Domain Provider all use POP3 incoming SMTP outgoing. Or do you just mean use webmail and forget about a client on the machine?

If your ISP doesn't support IMAP, ask. Many do, but just don't promote it.


Alternative, useful for dial-up users, use fetchmail to collect the mail and then serve it using IMAP across the local intranet. That's what I do - my IMAP serves three machines and multiple clients on 2 platforms.
