Does a rip and burn of the CD(s) work? There have been a couple attempts at enforcing some sort of piracy protection on CD's recently but AFAIK it's been pretty small scale.
Antipiracy protection? What sharpened edges to keep the pirates from overrunning your boat?
It's more likely that the pressing quality is going down hill now that the bottom is falling out of the music market.
Music industry propaganda..... nothing that dramatic - the odd down year when big parts of the world economy are in recession is to be expected in industry. I know a guy who bought a million containers (the kind that go on container ships), about a month before the OECD predicted a global economic down turn - now there was a man with genuine economic problems. Fiddling with CD standards and copy protection are the usual culprits - although compared to DVD format wars this is but fluff. Try emailing the CD player vendor - if you've checked the website.....
