I bought my T420 off eBay a few years ago. It came with a HDD with Windows 7 which I copied to an SSD and upgraded to Windows 10. Then dual boot to Ubuntu. Can't remember the last time I booted into Windoze.  I paid about £130 for it on eBay.  So, to me, £280 sounds expensive.



Is the video editting doable? or has it become a real pain for you? 


It is unlikely that I will frequently do any video editing. But good to know regardless. 


There is a T420 on ebay, used, for £280. Thats a pretty decent price I reckon?! For a few hundred more, there is something like this...

I'm not sure what else I can say other than I use it for:
 
Emails, Web work, photo and video edit and video playback.
 
The only drawback is the inability to upgrade ram beyond 8gb which would be nice in terms of video editing.
