[LUG] Advice/tips on a LaTeX CV.

Hey all.

I'm trying to get my CV going again for job hunting, and my current CV
is using the ModernCV class, but I'm finding it a bit heavy, and I'd prefer
something simple and compact. No flashy things... I store my current CV in a Git
repository, which I branch from the template to various job applications, customise,
and write a cover letter. Then I commit.

I suppose my question is, does anyone here use a template *other than*
`moderncv`, or have any advice/tips for a custom CV layout?

One may ask: why TeX? It's primarily because I find the control I get
over my documents is so flexible - its also why I used it at college -
and that I can commit the sources to my Git repository. It's not on
GitHub, as it has my address ;)

Cheers!
