Re: [LUG] Old Laptop

My instinct is that anything which extends the life of the laptop at a /reasonable/ cost is worthwhile. Why spend hundreds on a new one if tens buy an SSD which will boost performance? Also a memory upgrade - if possible - would help in that regard.

All good advice but first things first, make a proper diagnosis. User

Cheap (£20) 120Gb SSD is a no-brainer though, you can always find
another use for it somewhere else either way.

Of course, since my email she has had no problems. Typical. It might be a good idea to replace the HD with an SSD anyway. Or is that not a good idea with a laptop that is coming up to seven years old?
