Hi All

Thanks for all the replies. I don't know what I did wrong but I added the UUID to the fstab and then when I rebooted it would not boot because it was loading the second hard drive as the boot drive. Any ideas what I did wrong please?

Can you post the contents of your fstab and the output from "$sudo blkid"?

If you're having trouble booting let us know and we can work around that.

Grant. :)

Hi Grant

Here is the relevant parts of blkid

/dev/sda1: UUID="c0a322f1-307c-4614-a936-12d967444422" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="0624ae60-01"
/dev/sdb1: LABEL="Backup" UUID="9cfdb233-8fc4-497c-a9fd-065b429793be" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="3451624b-195f-4012-af19-bd4695c35fc8"
/dev/sdc1: LABEL="disk1" UUID="3111ce11-191b-49f2-888d-e8bc81505ee8" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="000a9b50-01"
/dev/sr0: UUID="295e8ece00000000" LABEL="P8990DVD" TYPE="udf"

Here is the fstab file output

UUID=c0a322f1-307c-4614-a936-12d967444422 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
/swapfile none swap sw 0 [ 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/3111ce11-191b-49f2-888d-e8bc81505ee8 /mnt/3111ce11-191b-49f2-888d-e8bc81505ee8 auto nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0

I had to boot as root to command line and then edit out the offending line. All is ok once more! Can I attach the original file so you can see in its entirety? Just in case I have added a link to the file which should be editable.
