I'm quite happy with gmail for personal usage. I don't see any ads (adblocking using pihole), but I understand your concern - even if I don't share it.

We use Gsuite at work, but get it for free, and it's excellent.

But - being a linux user, you have all the free tools to run your own email service. Personally I found the constant spam-fighting tiresome, but it's easy to set up email on a linux machine.
