I do notunderstand why because if it was a permissions problem surely /none/ ofthem would copy. As it is some of my mail files copy fine and othersrefuse. Eventually the backup fails so none of the files after the maildirectory get backed up at all. JulianSynology NAS? just tried here, and got 100% failure with the following sort of errors rsync: chgrp "/home/pi/dp/pi-03/ntp/ntp-dev-4.3.61/util/timetrim.c" failed: Invalid argument (22) on the Pi: -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c on the NAS: -rw------- 1 admin users 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c the NAS as seen from the Pi: -rw------- 1 4294967294 4294967294 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c after I bought it I found lots of complaints on the forum about the broken NFS server. :( best regards DaveHi Dave, Yes, a Synology DS212j. Ordinarily I have no problems at all with it in everyday use, and I still don't understand why it copies some files quite happily and refuses to copy others. Kind regards, JulianI just tried a $rsync -a ntp root@NAS:/volume1/dp/pi-03/ instead of the NFS version $rsync -a ntp dp/pi-03and this worked without error (I still get permission errors for non-root @ NAS)pi: -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c NAS: -rw-r--r-- 1 pi 1000 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c NAS from the Pi: -rw-r--r-- 1 4294967294 4294967294 2710 Oct 29 2002 timetrim.c best regards DAve (DS414-slim)
