of these to hand. It'll be fully functional but in need of a cleanup.
If you really have spare ones to dispose of, I do have a use for a couple of extended links if you don't mind.
On the other matter, the card you recommended is back ordered at the supplier I found at the moment, but I expect I'll go ahead when it is in stock.,. Meanwhile I'm playing with a second hand NVS 440 which is just slightly better at running my big screen but not good enough to go on with, at least under Nouveau.
I may yet step back to Oldstable and put that Matrox back in - it was very nice. Failing that, I think a Windows box is going to get a huge upgrade in display. THanks for the help and discussion.
