logitech provide an application on (win/mac) software to manage this, yes one usb 
transceiver can be used for both kb & mouse but out of the box the tranceiver is 
paired only to its shipped device. there is a way to re-pair /set up multiple pairs 
without software but its hard work! see logitech website support info for pairing a 
replacement device.
