It is all horribly bad.
Sure if people use a unique password for mailman, it isn't a particular risk since if they read your email they can reset it, but the very fact it is stored in plaintext tells you it is done wrongly.
Anyway, will kick our mail guy whose obviously not following....
Mailman devs have been talking about fixing it since at least 2007....
