Hmmm. I have just tested Photoprint 0.4.2-pre2 and got an A2 jpeg image
to print out onto 4 A4 pages. What parameters did you set in Photoprint?

For what you want you would probably need to set:

Poster Layout

Size 594 x 841 (so this is an A1 final image)
Tiles 4 x 4 (so 16 A4 pages)
Overlap - this depends on printer page margins

Page Size

A4 (this needs to match the tiles above)

Margins - I'd use 0 and 0 to start
