Would n instances of your image viewer of choice, running in slide-show mode not suffice?

Obviously u can position them where u want on a screen.

If not, how about a bit of html5/_javascript_ from within one or n browers?

Im sure what u want will be easy enough, I just don't know exactly how. Lol
