Nice review there Gordon.

Same price too, I notice... I wonder whether CPC will be selling off older models "cheap" - doubtful as I'd buy 5 ;o)
The main distys ran down their stock prior to the B+ launch, but there are
many of the smaller ones - e.g. Aria offering them at a discount now.

£17.94 inc. VAT. That's an extremely good deal!

Not many left though ;-)

Nice cases you found there too... I might see whether my pocket money can stretch to those

£8.50

They have stock of them for the existing model B too:

They allow GPIO board to be placed on-top without taking the top off:

e.g. see this photo:

I notice that they've changed the SD socket to a MicroSD one... as I have a poorly Pi with various elastic bands keeping the SD Card in... what's your opinion on the new socket? More robust?
I've never had an issue with the existing SD card slot - but maybe I'm
more careful and almost always have my Pi's in cases - who knows.
It's a natural progression to move to µSD IMO. I'm sure it'll help others
who have had problems in the past with the full-size ones.
My only (minor) concern is for those people who've got to re-do all their hardware projects to fit the new profile... but why shouldn't the Pi be any different to the rest of technology...
The top 26-pins are 100% compatible with the existing Model B, Rev 2, so
anything that plugged on-top will still fit. There are some issues to do
with the moved USB and Ethernet sockets - e.g. a PiFace won't fit anymore
but I don't think that'll be a big issue.
