I know virtually nothing about Lua except that it is considered a Lisp
derivative and member of the Lisp family. If the AST needs "getting
to" -- if it's not effectively the same thing as the top-level syntax
-- then that would make it Yet Another "Improved" Lisp that fails to
be and do what Lisp is and does elegantly.

Have you seen this?
