My feeling is that, if the maintainers want to change For the most part, I'm not too bothered about the changes. Although it will take a while to retrain hands (and eyes) to move to different places. OTOH, I'd much rather that I were allowed to keep my old layout and styles. Also, the upgrade showed that there was some corruption in my settings directory, or that the upgrade wasn't performed cleanly. I like to have the sidebar open loaded with bookmarks. After the upgrade to 29, this always opened as a grey empty panel. I had to toggle it off then on to be able to view the bookmarks. Also, the "Customise..." page opened empty. Nothing, nada, zip. I had to move my old settings out of the way to overcome the problem. I'm slowly building it all back into place, one bit at a time. Something else I've been trying to solve, but can't. The throbber. I liked having it in the menu bar, especially if I had only one page open (i.e. no tabs). It's simply not possible to have it there any more. It's been removed from the Customise options. So now, if I want a throbber, I *have* to have tabs on all the time. That's just a waste of space to my way of thinking. Web pages are usually longer than my screen height (sometimes a lot longer), so why make matters worse by reducing the effective height of the viewing area? And another thing (although nothing to do with FF) why do so many web sites wrap text in such a way that there's a couple of acres of dead space to either side of them? Yes, I know it's easier to read shorter lines, and this is really a complaint about the insistence manufacturers have of making all monitors wide screen, but I do feel somewhat better for getting that off my chest. :-) I was so disappointed when my old 4:3 monitor died and I couldn't get another one. -- Regards _ / ) "The blindingly obvious is / _)rad never immediately apparent" You never listen to a word that I said Public Image - Public Image Ltd
