We use to have ADSL drop on incoming due to an archaic HP printer  and complex phone set-up. Something about pick-up by the printer's Fax modem stuffed the line for about 30s. For what it is worth that phone line was never satisfactory although we found and fixed a myriad potential issues with it. Phone lines are the wrong technology for data, get something better as soon as it is financially viable.

Anyway, what Gordon says, although does sound like perhaps the other end failed to reset itself, so likely they'll (BT) have to do something.
