Not sure I understand "finding it may be a bit of a gamble". A bit
tricky if you don't have a Mac? Probably. I see packages called
'dmg2img' and 'hfsplus' in the debian repo; don't know anything about
them.

I downloaded the latest Mac file from the Canon UK website. It is indeed a DMG. I converted it to an IMG using dmg2img, loopback mounted it and found... a PKG file inside. I unxared the PKG file, to find a few GZIP files insidee, which when gunzipped turned out to be CPIO "archives". Eventually after unCPIOing them I found... not a single PPD file anywhere.
