Why wouldn't you use git here to manage Web content sanely?

Of course I would prefer http://man.cat-v.org/plan_9/1/history but we
aren't all using plan9, are we? :)

Not sure what your idea of the "right tool" is here. Dreamweaver? :P

Not sure what you are saying here.

If you are saying dealing with mysqldumps is a PITA, then yes I agree
with you. Filesystem management and backup, far saner, especially with
git. :)
