I suspect the support staff are fairly familiar. DELL installation, and diagnostic CDs have been GNU/Linux based for a while for Desktop and server - not had a laptop. Different from supporting other aspects of the desktop, but presumably they already know what is broken when the boot stops are various early stages and the like. > I don't see the great conspiracy. I doubt there is a conspiracy, and I expect Canonical are getting a cut somewhere. I certainly hope so, since my experience of Linux on DELL was pretty lousy, having Canonical involved can't make it worse. However if MS Windows really is worth -$50 (and I suspect it is), a lot of folk will buy the Windows version and install the distro of their choice knowing that Free Software drivers are available. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
