I was going to ask before, but decided the question was too trivial.... However after Gordon's comments about power negotiation by USB at the Exeter LUG meet.... I want a better USB hub. The current one is a "gimmick" USB hub I got as a present, apparently not supporting USB 2 and I suspect designed to have an external power supply (I suspect this is why autosuspend messes with it so much, or at least occasionally I lose all USB devices plugged into it - which I suspect is autosuspend - trying out disabling autosuspect for USB to see if that sorts it). I now have too many devices which either plugin via USB, or charge via USB, for the computers numerous USB connections, but the current hub is failing me. It will have Joystick and Wireless Mouse, various cameras being plugged in, and charging devices (mobile phone). Indeed as I'm probably place it somewhere more accessible than the back of the computer I may preferentially also move the printer, webcam etc. I currently have to charge the phone off the computers port as the hub doesn't have enough power to effectively charge the phone. Keyboard is currently good old fashioned PS/2, guess that'll change when I upgrade the PC. So I guess I just need USB-2 support, at least 4 ports, preferable more, sufficient power output to charge my mobile phone and maybe another device at the same time, and one that doesn't mess up with standard Linux kernel with power saving features enabled. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
