Including an ADSL modem wouldn't be much use if you had a cable modem
(or other device presenting an ethernet connection. As is the case with
some older ADSL modems.)

Typically what is being called a "router" is actually a combination of
router, wireless access point, small switch. Possibly also with ADSL
modem and/or ATA ports.

You won't find wireless on something like a Cisco 2801, though ADSL and
ethernet switch option cards are available.
