Ha ha, my Dad, who's retired and almost 60 now, had a phone call from
these scammers a few weeks back - luckily he's been running a linux
system I look after for many years now and he's quite an evil man. He
kept the poor guy on the phone for ten minutes or so of solid abuse
before they gave up and ran for cover... Apparently they are pretty
unpleasant on the phone, really harsh manner, etc. Sadly a lot of people
apparently fall for it though: why the scamming companies haven't yet
been blacklisted by the evil credit card companies is a bit of a
mystery. I've not yet had a chance to analyse a machine hit by one of
these scams to see what their choice of malware/rootkit payload is but
I'd guess it's probably something hacked up from the usual Russian
crimeware kits like blackhole, etc.
