I agree with the others try to check overheating.

Possible there is a bug in the graphics card firmware - can it be upgraded?

If not you could try disabling some of the acceleration features to see
if that is what triggers the bug.

There is an open Ubuntu bug on same, and some suggestion that very
recent kernels might help.

Reminds me I have open bugs to sort on a similar topic.....
