String? USB? Ethernet? Wifi? There are a lot of options and

String would do it, doesn't do much for data though although I guess
with two tin cans you could maybe just maybe get some voice down it.

USB, limited to 5 metres without a repeater.

Ethernet, limited to 100 Metres at least on CAT5.  Can't remember
what the limits on 10Base2 coax is, something like 300 metres or
something without a repeater.

10Base2 is limited to ~185m, 10Base5 is ~500m
