One could try and figure out what is broke (or what you broke) in the start-up script to get different versions - but I suspect life is sweeter if you just use safe mode to disable any likely suspect plugins for running in 3.6.3, and then try running the new version without safe mode and if need be re-enabling plug-in to find out which one breaks stuff.
