Yeah, this worked quite well with one couple that dropped in to a lug
meet a few months ago, just to get openoffice installed, then a month
later to get it re-installed due to a system restore.

I think if the venue allows perhaps set up a computer / laptop running
ubuntu and leave it so people can have a look and ask questions.

With enough promotion and preparation it could be possible to convert
quite a few people over the coming months, and perhaps get them to
contact their MP and ask why isn't the public sector using open source /
standards more,
