Brownie points are always welcome!!

I have had a look around with Google but the possibilities  seem
endless. So I am turning to the list for some ideas. I suppose that I
would need a wide screen version. The weight and size would not be
relevant as it would mostly stay in one place. I have the other laptop
as a portable version.

I am not interested in gaming at all. I suspect also that some laptops
work better with Linux than others. Is that the case?

I have just bought a medion laptop - 16inch wide screen, 320gb hd, for £299 from Argos clearance on EBay and I am very pleased with it. It actually came with 2 copies of Windows 7 discs - 32 and 64bit, as well as a set of restore DVD's and a bag as well.

If you are on a budget, the Argos Clearance site on EBay is a good place to look.

I don't know how well Linux works on it as I needed to retain Windows 7 and am using VirtualBox to run Linux.
