To run it as a firewall, then you still need an ADSL modem - which could be USB, I guess - and as it has a single Ethernet socket, that's OK to plug into your switch - actually, you probably could do it with an ADSL modem (PPPoE) on the same Ethernet device...

Not sure it's worth the effort though - then you'll still need an Ethernet switch, but maybe you've got that anyway. That is an advantage of modern units - you get a 4-port switch thrown in for free...

Get an ALIX board with 3 Ethernets and on-board mini-pci Wi-Fi card - that might be a better solution?
