Hi Gordon, will sipgate work with a bt home hub? I am running 3cx at the moment for phone system any ideas if it would work with that?
As I said earlier:
I have had issues with BT Home Hubs because they have their own VoIP service built in and I've never had any hands-on time with them to work out how to disable their built-in VoIP thing.
So if you can work out how to disable their built-in VoIP then you should be OK.
Since it's free to setup with sipgate, you've got nothing to lose by trying it. They have "How-To's" for setting up soft-phones like x-lite, as well as popular desk phones.
3CX needs a Windows Server to run... I'd start off by simply connecting a desk phone (or soft phone) to Sipgate before trying to integrate 3CX (or asterisk) to it.
Your Internet connection is going to be the biggest hurdle to get over - BT is not a particularly good ISP in my experience, but if you can get through your home hub router thing, then it'll be good enough to test.
